Living With Type 2 Diabetes is a programme that provides education and personal support in the management of Type 2 diabetes.  The programme is for individuals who are at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes or who have a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes and requires additional support to manage the condition.

It has been proven that 30 minutes a day of moderate physical activity reduces the likelihood of Type 2 diabetes and helps manage the condition for individuals with a diagnosis.  A combination of cardiovascular exercise and resistance training has been effective for people affected by Type 2 diabetes.  Regular exercise helps control blood sugar levels, enhances cardiovascular fitness, aids in weight management, and promotes emotional well-being.

Living With Type 2 Diabetes is a five-week exercise programme that includes strength training, cardio training and informative advice focussing on:

  • What is diabetes
  • Benefits of exercise
  • Long-term effects of diabetes
  • Nutritional diabetes advice, and
  • Facility use (tour of the gym/providing gym inductions, etc)
